Sesame Chicken
Ingredients
For the Marinade
- 1 cup chicken stock
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch chunks
For the Sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon chili paste (can substitute a couple pinches of red pepper flakes)
For Coating & Frying
- 3 egg whites
- 1½ cups cornstarch
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 6 cups vegetable oil, for frying
- Sesame seeds, to garnish
- Scallions, sliced, to garnish
