Candied Orange Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

• 2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced about 1/4 inch thick
• 1 orange, very thinly sliced and seeds removed
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 2 tablespoons orange juice
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
