Asiago and Black Pepper Rolls

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups unbleached bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt or 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons white or brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water, about 95° F
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm buttermilk or milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons melted, unsalted butter or vegetable oil 

Filling

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded, Asiago cheese
  • Freshly ground black pepper
