Blackest Forest Gateau

Ingredients

For black chocolate cake:

• 2 cups sugar
• 2 cups flour
• 1/3 cup black cocoa powder
• 2/3 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 eggs, beaten
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 1 cup whole milk
• 1 cup boiling water

For dark chocolate ganache:

• 3 ounce dark chocolate, chopped
• 2.5 ounce manufacturing or heavy whipping cream
• 1 tablespoon butter
• 1 tablespoon Godiva chocolate liquor, optional

For dark cherry filling:

• 10 ounce frozen dark cherries
• 3 tablespoon sugar
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 1 tablespoon kirsch or brandy

For mascarpone whipped cream:

• 1 cup mascarpone cheese
• 4 cups manufacturing cream, or heavy whipping cream
• 2/3 cup powdered sugar
